Oral Language Faire

Mark Your Calendars!

The 16th Annual Jacoby Creek School
Oral Language Faire
March 8, 2017
School Performance and Judging will be at 1:00pm
Evening Performance will be at 6:00pm

STUDENTS: If you want to participate start looking for a poem and decide if you are interested in an individual or a group performance. Due to the OLF’s popularity students may only participate one time.
Sign Ups are happening now in the Library! After you sign up, take home the rules and permission slip. Parents will need to completely fill out and sign the permission slip in order for their child to try out. No exceptions!
Students will return their permissions slips and TWO copies of their poem back into the OLF basket that is located inside the library. Students that have returned their permission slip and copies of their poem will be notified by the OLF committee what day their tryouts will be. The schedule will also be posted outside the library in the case.
TRYOUTS: Will take place the week of January 30 – Feb 3 during lunch/recess in the library. Students will NOT need to have their poem memorized but will be expected to be able to read it clearly from their copy. So, practice, practice, practice!

Any questions, please contact Jenney Bickel at jbickel@jcsk8.org or Marci Barker, JCS Librarian

JCCEF Auction Form

Saturday, March 18, 2017, the JCCEF Dinner, Auction & Dance will be held at the Arcata Community Center. Complete this form and return it to the school office by Friday, March 10th, to order tickets, volunteer to help with the auction, donate to the auction, or be an event sponsor. This event helps the foundation fund many special programs, events, and equipment that enrich our school. Your support is appreciated!

Arcata High School Orientation and Parent Night

The 8th grade students will be taking a field trip to Arcata High School for freshman orientation on Friday, 1/27. Students will cycle through five different elective offerings for freshman and get a feel for the AHS campus. The principal and members of the AHS student body government will address students, as well.

At the end of the day, students will be given an AHS course catalog and a registration packet. The registration material will also be available on the school website https://sites.google.com/nohum.k12.ca.us/ahs. Completed registration will be due back in a week or so, and more details about that will follow.

In addition to the orientation for students, there will also be a Freshman Parent Night at the high school held on Thursday, 1/26, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Watch for information about that event coming in the mail.

Auction Basket Donations

On March 18th , the JCCEF will host our annual fundraising auction and each class collects things for a themed basket to contribute to the auction.  This year our class theme is Coffee, Tea & Chocolate.  Keep the theme in mind as you are out and about during vacation. You might come across a great deal on something related to our basket.

We can also use large baskets (20 inches +) to hold the many wonderful items that parents donate.  There will be more information about the baskets, tickets and opportunities to help with the action after the holiday.

We welcome any contribution to this fundraising event.  The money that we raise from the auction each year funds many things for the school and our classrooms including field trips, the document cameras, class plays, the school play, music programs, etc.

Thank you for your support!

Early Dismissal Friday, 12/16

Don't forget that students will be released at 12:00 pm on Friday, 12/16. Everyone have a wonderful winter break!
